The Preying Mantis

A juvenile mantis

The mantis nymph

I've noticed that there were plenty of mantis nymphs around our house. But no adults.Maybe they got eaten up by the hatchlings because the mantis is known as a cannibal. And one of those days when I was walking the kidz, I noticed a large mantis at our
neighbour's sugar cane plant. It was frozen still as if something was coming its way.Seeing that it was an opportunity to score some shots, I went back home and grabbed my
camera and an extension tube. The background sucks and lighting too didn't help.Nevertheless, I managed to get some shots of an adult mantis that was eluding me for quite
some time...
