The Robber fly

One of those winged creature from the fly family which is worth chasing is the robber fly.
I had my first encounter with this insect yesterday and managed to fire off a few shots.
This vicious predator feeds on other insects by injecting a neurotoxin found in its saliva and
slowly ingesting them through its proboscis.
The robber feeds on dragonflies, wasps and a host of other small insects. It's 10mm size made it a perfect model for my close-up lens and once perched on a branch,
the robber fly poses gracefully for the camera.Since I am still a beginner at close-up
photography, the toughest part is to get the details on its compound eyes.
